Meet our team of volunteers
President
Lauren Pine
Lauren is a passionate music educator and performer. Currently the director of choral activities at Staples High School in Westport, CT, Lauren believes that every child should have access to an exceptional music education.
Lauren received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Musical Theater from Northwestern University. She also studied abroad in Italy with the International Vocal Arts Institute and in Disney World with VoicExperience. She then went on to teach privately before earning her Master’s in Music Education from Hunter College.
While living in Manhattan, Lauren sang with The New York Choral Society, where she met her husband, Will Pine. She has performed on many mainstages throughout Chicago and New York City such as the Chicago Symphony Center, Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and Lincoln Center. After moving to Connecticut, Lauren began teaching in Fairfield County public schools, FPS and WPS.
With two children in the Darien Public School system (MMS & Tokeneke), she is excited to support them and all the musical kids in our district.
Treasurer
Heather Drugge
Heather brings a diverse background in education, environmental stewardship, and the arts to her role at Darien Music Parents Association. A graduate of Dartmouth College with a BA in Biology and a minor in Environmental Science, she has also pursued extensive studies in sustainability, landscape design, and floral design at the New York Botanical Garden. Her professional experience spans teaching marine biology and ecology, conducting research at Rockefeller University, and instructing French at various institutions.
A lifelong volunteer, she has served in leadership roles for the Darien Environmental Group and Girl Scouts of Connecticut, as well as a long serving member of Ox Ridge PTO and Green Team. She is also an active member of the Garden Club of Darien and the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra board.
In addition to her environmental and educational contributions, Heather is a talented musician and performer, with past roles in musical theater productions and choirs. She continues to share her passion for the arts as a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Adult Choir and has volunteered with Darien Music for Youth since 2005, serving as co-president from 2022 to 2024. Fluent in French and conversational in Spanish, she enjoys working with children and animals on her small family farm.
